The legendary Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in rock and pop music history.

Besides being one of the top-selling and concert drawing artists ever, he’s also written and recorded the songs of a generation — including some of the most famous songs on the planet.

In January 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond retired from touring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be preserved for audiences worldwide through tribute artist Rob Garrett, often called “the best of the best”.

Like his idol, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.

In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to the Las Vegas Valley, where, two years later, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts (now “PH Live”) in July 1976.

Garrett went on to see him 16 more times across the country—right up until Diamond’s final U.S. concert at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.

In 1980, Garrett started his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a decade-and-a-half career in Las Vegas and across the nation before transitioning from cover band frontman to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his musical idols.

In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the world-famous “Legends in Concert” review.

What was meant to be a limited run turned into a three-year residency.

By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to create his own tribute production.

He began a nationwide performance schedule, building a devoted fan base along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Las Vegas.”

He continues to sell out theaters nationwide, often in venues reserved for national acts.

Garrett has also won numerous awards, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”

“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.

On May 19, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman Neil Diamond tribute Las Vegas casino showroom officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.

Now in this year, Garrett celebrates 45 years on stage in Las Vegas, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.

It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has appeared at more Vegas stages than any other.

Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only active Neil Diamond tribute production in America.
